Turkey is also a member of many organizations, such as the Turkish Speaking Countries Cooperation, International Organization of Turkish Culture, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and Organization of Economic Cooperation.
Turkey is accepted as a regional superpower because of its growing economy and diplomatic initiatives. The president is elected by direct elections for five years. Once the tenure ends, the former president can be reelected. The President exercises executive power and serves as the head of state. On the other hand, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey holds the legislative power, and 600 senators are elected by secret ballot for four years with the uniform parliamentary system.
